Pensford Field Nature Reserve
Every week our pre-school and blue room children attend our local nature reserve at Pensford Fields.
We believe that being outside offers excellent opportunities for both learning and playing and gives children the chance to explore the natural environment around them.
Children will attend in most weathers (not extreme weather) enabling them to learn about the different seasons and different life cycles of trees, flowers and local wildlife. The children will undertake a range of activities such as;
Nature hunts
Outdoor arts and crafts
Bug hunting
Woodland play and exploration.
All activities are linked to the EYFS
Going to Pensford Field helps children to build their self esteem, improve both social skills and peer relationships and helps children to understand and appreciate the environment around them.
The children at Montys really enjoy learning and playing at the nature reserve
here is what a few of our children have said
"I enjoy going to watch the ants" EW
"I really enjoy making stuff out of wood" AS
" I like watching the tadpoles in the pond" BD
Montys Nursery and Pre-School have also achieved the Green Tree Schools Silver Award with the Woodland Trust.
